U.S. Healthcare Providers Are Challenged to Show the Way in HIV Testing
CAEAR Foundation Partners on July 21 Capitol Hill Event to Kick Off 1st National Clinicians HIV/AIDS Testing & Awareness Day
Washington, D.C. – Challenging healthcare providers to become personally involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS, the National Minority AIDS Education and Training Center (NMAETC) and its partners, the CAEAR Foundation and the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA), are asking clinicians across the U.S. to take a few minutes’ time to test themselves for HIV/AIDS, personally demonstrating the importance as well as the ease of regular testing. CAEAR Foundation Partners on
National Clinicians HIV/AIDS Testing and Awareness Day
June 19, 2008 Washington, DC -- The CAEAR Foundation has joined the
National Minority AIDS Education and Training Center (NMAETC) and the
National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) on National Clinicians
HIV/AIDS Testing and Awareness Day, to be held on July 21, 2008.
As a leading provider of HIV training, technical assistance, and
research, the CAEAR Foundation will support this event by helping create
a resource center where clinicians can easily access current information
on the treatment and management of HIV disease. In addition, CAEAR Foundation
will help expand the scope of this important effort by reaching primary care
providers in Community Health Centers, Rural Health Centers, Family Planning Clinics, and other primary care settings not traditionally targeted by HIV initiatives. Click here to read more.

CAEAR Foundation Expands Research Capability
Leading HIV training and education organization to conduct
primary HIV research
June 6, 2008 Washington, DC -- The CAEAR Foundation has hired Peter
Gamache, MBA, MLA, MPH, as a primary HIV researcher. Mr. Gamache will
design and manage evaluation and research activities that help ensure
effective care, treatment, and support for people living with HIV.
“With this hire, CAEAR Foundation takes another step in becoming a key
source for HIV education, training, and now primary research to further
HIV prevention and care in the U.S.” said CAEAR Foundation Executive
Director Brian Hujdich. “Peter will focus on enhancing and expanding the
organizations primary research and evaluation activities.”

Therapeutic Strategies for
Antiretroviral Treatment Experienced Patients: A Case Based Update
The Therapeutic Strategies for Antiretroviral Treatment Experienced Patients program is a CME-sponsored program
for health-care professionals caring for ARV-experienced patients.
This program includes:
- Three unique talks which can be delivered to your clinic or
center by one of the internationally acclaimed faculty in a live or online webinar format. It is also possible for an
individual to join and participate in one of the live webinar
events by going to the list of these programs posted at
the Viraled Therapeutic Strategies site and joining at the
designated time.
- A faculty round table with Drs. Cal Cohen, Ian Frank Rick
Elion, Graeme Moyle, and Paul Sax discussing their clinical
strategies regarding the management of ARV-experienced patients.
- 6 patient cases in which specific patient issues - including
multi-drug resistance, use of new antiretroviral agents and
adherence - are discussed and clinical strategies for
addressing them are provided.
GOAL:
The goal of this overall program is to provide participants
an opportunity to increase their knowledge around the
antiretroviral (ARV) therapies for treatment-experienced
patients, how to maximize success in creating potent ARV
regimens and reinforce the importance of driving HIV-RNA to
<50 copies/mL and maintaining patients at that level for as
long as possible.
