CAEAR Coalition joined leading domestic AIDS organizations in a letter to President Obama urging him to deliver a strong message on World AIDS Day that we have the capacity to end both the domestic and global HIV epidemics. Click here to view the letter.

HHS Releases Regulations for Accountable Care Organizations (10/20/2011)

The Department of Health and Human Services announced new incentives for Medicare providers to work together through accountable care organizations. Both the Medicare Shared Savings Program and Advance Payment model create incentives for health care providers to work together to treat an individual patient across care settings, including doctors' offices, hospitals, and long-term care facilities. HIV/AIDS Community's Response to Deficit Reduction (10/4/2011)

The HIV/AIDS community developed a set of principles urging Congress to ensure that deficit reduction is not achieved at the expense of low income and vulnerable populations. Click here to view the document.

CAEAR Coalition recently also sent a letter, available here, to the leadership of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction urging the Members to maintain the federal funding commitment to HIV/AIDS services.

IOM Releases Report on Essential Health Benefits (October 2011)

The Institute of Medicine's Committee on Defining and Revising an Essential Health Benefits Package for Qualified Health Plans released a report, Essential Health Benefits: Balancing Coverage and Cost, laying out criteria and methods to define and update the essential health benefits package. Health Care Reform Checklist for AIDS Service Organizations

Implementation of the Affordable Care Act will bring significant changes to the nation's health care system, including the delivery of HIV/AIDS care and treatment. Health care providers and organizations, including AIDS service organizations, will need to monitor these changes and adapt their operations, and in some cases their structure, in order to thrive in this new environment and continue best serving people living with HIV/AIDS. CAEAR Coalition compiled the following checklist to help AIDS service organizations successfully navigate and participate in this process.

CAEAR Coalition Signs Letter to President Obama Endorsing Care and Treatment Recommendations for the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (3/5/10)

The Coalition for a National HIV/AIDS Strategy sent a letter to the White House outlining detailed recommendations aimed at increasing access to care, treatment and supportive services for people living with HIV. ONAP Holds Meeting to Announce Federal Interagency Members Developing National HIV/AIDS Strategy (2/24/10)

The White House Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP) and the Office of Public Health and Science (OPHS) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services held a meeting in Washington, DC to announce the members of the interagency working group tasked with developing the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. Health Care Reform Sign-on Letter to Congressional Leaders (2/23/10)

CAEAR Coalition joined 40 other HIV/AIDS advocacy organizations calling on Congressional leaders to pass comprehensive, meaningful health reform and highlighting the key provisions that need to be included to address the health care needs of people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic health conditions.
